Martello Tower A, this is the first of the East coast towers. Tower CC on the Aldeburgh page is the last one of the East Coast chain. Tower A is now used as an Aviation Museum and open to the public.
The Tower was altered during WW2 when the top works were added along with a detonation point for an underwater mine system which was installed across the River Colne. The tower is surrounded by overhead cables so an aerial close up will be difficult.
